Proximity's innovative thesaurus software is available in 12 languages, offering a niche feature
to any software application interested in gaining a global edge.

Inflection

Proximity's American and British English thesauruses support inflection. An inflected query is converted to its root form and synonyms returned are cast into the appropriate inflected form.

Unlike other electronic thesauruses that only refer the user only to the synonyms for the base word, the Proximity thesaurus system inflects the synonyms so the user can replace the word in the correct form.

For example, the past tense/past participle of the verb "entwine" is "entwined". The Proximity thesaurus gives the user the inflected forms of the synonyms: i.e. "wound", "coiled", etc. By provided the inflected forms, the Proximity thesaurus saves the user time and avoids embarrassing errors.

Proximity's American English electronic thesaurus offers meaning cores, characterized by a part of speech (i.e. noun, verb, etc.). Similar to a definition, a meaning core is a brief summary of a particular usage of an entry word and illustrates its relationship to associated words. Synonyms and other words are returned specifically for a selected meaning core.

Proximity thesauruses provide responses grouped by meanings. In addition, all data files support closure of the synonym data (i.e. any word given as a response to a query is also a valid entry point).
